Privacy & data

Effective 19 August 2026

Novel Holmes is an anonymous novel-discovery service running on Cloudflare. This page explains the data the current product actually handles.

Conversations

When you send your first message, Novel Holmes creates a random anonymous session cookie that lasts up to 30 days. Conversations and messages are stored in Cloudflare D1 so you can reopen them on the same browser. You can delete a conversation from the history panel. Inactive conversations are automatically deleted after 30 days; inactive session records are deleted after 35 days.

Voice

When you use the microphone, the recording is sent to Cloudflare Workers AI for transcription. Novel Holmes does not save the audio recording. If the transcript is submitted as a message, its text is stored as part of that conversation under the retention rules above.

Web investigations and external links

Your question may be used to search public novel, catalog, publisher, retailer, reference, blog, and discussion pages. Opening a source link takes you to a third-party website, whose own privacy terms apply.

Waitlist email

If you submit an email on the archived launch page, it is stored in Cloudflare D1 for product updates and retained until it is no longer needed or you ask for removal. Novel Holmes does not sell personal data.

Operational data

Cloudflare may process standard request metadata needed to deliver and secure the service. Novel Holmes also uses short-lived rate-limit counters to prevent abuse.

Your data controls

You can download or permanently delete the anonymous data linked to this browser at any time. Deletion removes every conversation, message, favorite, feedback rating, session, and account record tied to your user id.
