I’m the Daughter of a Fence-Sitter [70s]

Bai Sunni has the memories of a former life and finds herself in a 1970s rural Northeast China household as the eldest daughter of the Bai family’s third branch. Her parents are lazy, opportunistic “fence-sitters,” and the family’s daily life revolves around skimping, shirking work, and making do. Bai Sunni, however, does not want to be trapped in farm labor forever, so she tries to adapt to the era while pursuing schooling and a better future. The story has a strong rural period flavor, mixed with family squabbles, light humor, and a determined undercurrent of self-improvement.
